After two years of construction, Marrickville Station is finally back in business, with the Southwest Metro making it easier to get to and from Sydney’s Inner West. If you’re looking for an excuse to hop off the train for a drink, there are plenty of small bars within walking distance of the station.
From cosy neighbourhood spots to places worth seeking out for a good drink, these are the Marrickville bars to add to your list now that the Metro is running again.
Titus Jones
A staple of the south Marrickville scene, you’ll spot the giant orange skeleton long before you reach this seriously awesome cocktail bar. The skull motif doesn’t stop there, with memento mori gleefully looking down at you from every corner. Whether you pony up at the bar or find a corner table, this place is always hopping by Friday and Saturday night.
They serve some of the best spicy margaritas in the Inner West (a big call, we know), alongside tacos and dangerously delicious bean nachos. Go for the drinks and stay for the hip-hop-meets-yacht-rock soundtrack. It’s the #2204Baby!

Thirstville
Part wine bar, part bottleshop and part taproom, this little-space-that-could has built on the bones of its former tenants to create a true neighbourhood hangout. Grab a seat at one of the outdoor tables and watch Illawarra Road go by, hang out on the dog-friendly ground floor, or settle onto a sofa near the upstairs bar. There’s a pool table and board games, too.
Choose from the extensive bottle and tap list, or grab something from the fridge to drink in or take away. Chips and snacks are on hand, or you can order from one of the nearby Vietnamese restaurants to go with your beverage.

We Three
Run by mother-and-daughter duo Catherine and Ali, the name comes from a quote in the quintessential drinking film Withnail & I. Drop in for a midweek glass, a lazy Sunday afternoon pint at schooner prices, or a spot in the front bar on a busy weekend. The addition of streetside outdoor seating in 2026 has only cemented its place as a Marrickville local for punters and fellow bar owners alike.
There are nibbles and antipasto to go with your drink, plus a Poetry and Spoken Word afternoon on the fourth Sunday of every month. What’s more Inner West than that?

Marrickville Hotel
Up the road and around the corner on Marrickville Road, you’ll find the place we’ve been lovingly calling the MaHo. Taking over a former Smart Dollar shop and paint store, and rotating a seriously good playlist, the vibe combines classic Aussie pub with a hoarder’s back shed. There’s a special every night ($7 schooners on Tuesdays or $16 martinis on Thursdays), but the $20 jugs on Sundays are hard to beat. We also love that you can order food at the bar from Pho PhD down the road, or keep it simple with a bag of chips and a toastie.
So, can you help us make “MaHo” happen?
