Trivia on the Disney Adventure

Trivia on a Disney ship

Trivia on a Disney Cruise is not just friendly competition. It’s a way to create a little community within a community. You have a room full of Disney nerds carrying around wonderfully useless facts, and somehow that turns into conversations, alliances, and the occasional merging of teams.

If you’ve been on a Disney cruise you will know that games often award medals in sets of four. So, as a couple, we’ve often teamed up with others to make up the numbers. It’s one of the easiest ways we’ve met people onboard.

But it’s the cast who turn it into something more. They don’t just read out questions. They share their own connections to the answers, stories from their Disney journeys, and bring their own energy to every session. We still quote one host, Kendall, who would pause at the midpoint of the game and check in with the room: “If you’re feeling confident, let me hear you say ‘oh yeah’… and if you’re not confident, let me hear you say ‘oh no’.”

Our experiences

When we booked our tickets on the Disney Adventure sailing out of Singapore, we had questions. Lots of them. How would a ship this large actually work? Would there be much vegetarian food on offer? Would that roller coaster actually be any good? (Or could you even get a booking… but that’s another story.)

But most importantly to me, what would happen with the trivia?

Would it still be there? Would it be general Disney knowledge, or something more specific? And on a ship sailing out of Asia, would there be a local twist to the questions?

Then came that first scroll through the app. The new Remember show, whiskey tastings, opening times for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique… and then, tucked in among it all, Trivia with KnowsMore, some 18+ events and some for the whole family. Interesting.

We showed up for the first one in Tiana’s Bayou Lounge, a cozy space with flowers dripping from the ceiling and the velvet covered booths. The room quickly filled up, the familiar music kicked in, and the session turned out to be a movie quotes game. We didn’t do so well at this one, but it was good to be back in it.

We went to four games on our four-night cruise: Film Quote Trivia, Marvel Trivia (18+), Parks Trivia (18+), and Villains. Some were harder than others. The film quotes game felt like a level 2 challenge, while the Marvel one was more in line with what we’ve seen before.

Quick facts about the trivia on The Adventure

  • The app doesn’t tell you which kind of trivia it is going to be (Film quotes, music, parks, etc) it just shows as ‘KnowsMore Trivia’. This may change over time.

  • The games are run in English

  • The medals, from the games we attended, are the same as are on other ships. No Adventure exclusives yet.

  • There are both all ages and 18+ games

  • We had seen many of the questions at other games on The Wonder

Bonus Disney trivia

At the Parks Trivia game, we learned a really interesting fact. While most Disney cast members wear their name badges on the left, there are three roles that typically wear them on the right side of their uniform. Any guesses?

Turns out the bus drivers, security, and Hollywood Tower Hotel bellhops (at the Tower of Terror) all wear then on the other side. Interesting, huh?

The whole experience reminded me why I started putting together Disney trivia games here. There’s something about the format that just works. Celebrating the most obscure corners of Disney knowledge with others who are there for the same thing. No judgment, just reaching back into the recesses of your brain to pluck out that fact about how many eggs Gaston eats for breakfast.

And, of course, learning a thing or two along the way, like the fact that bus drivers wear their name badges on the right so guests can read the driver’s name when boarding.

If you want to recreate a little of that magic at home (or on your own travels), I’ve put together a series of Disney trivia games you can play anywhere. Enjoy.
