St Peters and Alexandria Brewery Map (updated for 2026)
Marrickville might be the well known space for independent brewery culture in Sydney. And rightfully so. But there is more to the Inner West brewery scene than Marrickville.
Admittedly this areas is a little more spread out, but there are great pockets of local brewers to enjoy. And if you’re strategic, both St. Peters and Alexandria are rich with amazing locations to explore.
If you’re strategic, it makes for a very satisfying brewery walk.
How this brewery walk works
You’ve got a couple of options for getting between breweries. Ride shares or taxis will speed things up, but if the weather’s kind and you’re up for a wander, this route works beautifully on foot.
All of the breweries listed here have kitchens or food available, so it’s easy to stay well fed as you go. Think of this less as a frantic crawl and more as a paced, map-led afternoon.
Starting point: Either St Peters Station or Sydenham Station works well.
NOTE: ALL of the breweries have kitchens, so there is no trouble finding something to eat throughout the day
The Route
🚶Travel: Walk with 11 minutes from St Peters or 18 minutes from Sydneham to Chuck and Sons
Chuck and Son's Brewing Co. - Open Weds - Sunday
Founded by Australian brewing legend Chuck Hahn and his son Scott, Chuck & Son’s brings decades of brewing experience to the Inner West. Chuck, often described as the godfather of Aussie craft beer, came out of retirement after founding both Hahn Brewery and Malt Shovel to focus on what he does best: reliable, sessionable beer. The beers are approachable, the space is relaxed, and the kitchen makes it a smart option for a solid feed before the afternoon really gets going.
🚶Travel: Walk 5 minutes to Future Brewing
Future Brewing - Open Thursday - Sunday
Future Brewing leans into modern, flavour-forward styles, particularly hop-driven beers inspired by the US craft scene. Run by Brady Hannett and Laura Howard, the brewery has built a reputation for hazy IPAs and rotating releases. The taproom is dog-friendly and often hosts rotating food trucks
🚶🚗Travel: Either 25 minute walk or 5 minutes by car to Yulli’s
Yulli’s Brews - Open Weds - Sunday
Yulli’s began in 2014 as an offshoot of the much-loved Surry Hills vegan restaurant of the same name. Staff member James Harvey started brewing beers to serve in-house, quickly gaining a following after winning a homebrew competition. The dedicated Alexandria brewery and restaurant opened in 2018. Every beer and every dish here is vegan. If you haven’t eaten yet, this is a fantastic lunch stop and a good place to linger a little longer.
🚶🚗Travel: Either 19 minutes by foot, or 5 minutes by car to Sydney Brewery
Sydney Brewery - Open 7 Days
Sydney Brewery (originally Schwartz Brewery) has been around for 20 years, but the Alexandria location is a new site for the brewer, opening in 2025. They have a mixture of core and seasonal offerings. Their core range have way too many medals to list here.
🚶🚗Travel: 30 minute walk or 8 minute by car to 2 Halfs
2 Halfs Brewing & Distilling - Open Thurs - Sun
This family-run brewery and distillery is operated by Kirk and Dragana, with a focus on traditional European lagers alongside modern craft styles. The name reflects both their brewing and distilling arms and the couple themselves. Personally, I’m a big fan of their Dunkel.
🚶Travel: 4 minute walk to Blackwattle
Blackwattle Bar + Brewery - Open 7 days
This site officially opened its Alexandria location in the last few days of 2024, establishing itself as a new craft brewery, cocktail bar, and entertainment venue after its origins in a Glebe garage. Started by 4 friends with a love of great beer, they wear their values on their sleeves and have some of the most distinctive branding around. Oh, and their Irish Red Ale and Their Scottish Wee Heavy are just brilliant.
The map
Wrap-up
If you’ve walked this whole route, you’ve visited six local breweries and covered just under six kilometres. Well done. You’ve earned that last beer.
Still got energy? Mountain Culture’s Redfern location is only a 15-minute walk away, and Redfern Station is right there when you finally decide it’s time to head home.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this journey through the breweries of St Peters and Alexandria. If you’re looking for our stroll through Marrickville, you can find that map here.
